Every night at bedtime, I do devotions with our nine year old, Bailey. It is our Mom and Bailey time and we both really enjoy it. We use a devotional called, "Keys for Kids". There are times when I am not sure who gets more out of the articles, Bailey or me. Bill, my husband, laughs at me because sometimes I bring the book out for him to read that day's reading because I liked it so much.
One night this week we read a story about a young man who was making a guitar out of a shoe box and rubber bands. The rubber bands were different sizes. Some fit over the box easily and comfortably. He had to stretch some of the rubber bands to make them fit. The interesting thing was that the ones that were stretched the tightest were the ones that made the most beautiful music. Wow!
That is so much like us in our daily Christian walk. The music we make with our lives that the world around us hears is more beautiful when we are being stretched by God and the things that He allows to happen in our lives that make us put our faith into action. A comfortable Christian's music is not nearly as beautiful and they do not have nearly the beautiful story to share! We have a great God who can give us joy and beauty in our lives even through the "stretching"!!
