I found this poem in a newsletter that I receive for Pastor's wives and really liked it!
A Pastor's Life Is Easy
By Judy Braddy
A pastor's life is easy,
Some would say it's mostly fun days.
I mean, how hard a life can it really be
If you only work on Sundays?
A meeting here, a wedding there,
Kissing babies that are cute,
(Never mind the fact
They sometimes spit up on your suit!)
And a pastor's wife is lucky,
Her life is full beyond measure,
As she puts together seminars
And holiday bazaars.
She keeps her hubby's schedule straight,
And a homey atmosphere creates.
She always tries her very best
To look her very loveliest.
And with the children spic and span
She still has time to lend a hand.
She sings-She plays-It's plain to see
Her life is really trouble free.
Yes, a pastor's life is easy
If you don't stop to consider
That while others leave their jobs behind
He carries his through dinner.
And sometimes in the wee, small hours
While others rest with ease,
The pastor, there alone at night,
Is down upon his knees.
You see, the "Sunday job" he has
Just has a funny way
Of filling up most every hour
Of every night and day.
And the pastor's wife and family
Must play an equal part
As they learn to share the burden
That he carries in his heart.
No, my friend, it's not as easy
As some might so often think it.
If the pastor's cup was all that sweet
There'd be more in line to drink it.
