"Are you mad at me Mom?" asked my daughter. "I'm not mad; I'm so disappointed in you. You made a very bad choice." I answered. This was an actual conversation that I had to have this week with my youngest daughter. As a parent, you try to teach your child what is right and what is wrong. You can only pray that they make good choices as they live out their daily lives. She made a choice that hurt someone's feelings and she was pretty cruel in the things that she said. It hurt my heart because I love her so much and I want to see her choose what is right.
It really made me think about God and how He must think about us. We are His children. He made us and He loves us. How much it must hurt His heart when He has to watch us make choices that hurt others or ourselves. He knows that we know better. He still loves us when we mess up, but He is so disappointed in our choices.
It makes you slow down and evaluate what you choose to do or say before you make a choice. I want God to be proud of me, not disappointed in me.
I made sure Bailey knew that it didn't matter what she did; I would always love her. I know this is true with God too. He is the perfect example of a loving parent. It's a good thing too because I mess up frequently!
I have so much to learn! ( so does Bailey!)
